Odoo 19 Referrals flow: share a job, friend applies, stages earn points, redeem rewards

We are a software services company in Dubai and we just installed Odoo 19 Referrals to encourage staff to recommend developers. Employees have started sharing job links, but nobody understands when they receive points.

Our HR manager also wants to offer a few rewards such as vouchers and an extra paid day off. Where do we define how many points each step is worth, and how does an employee actually claim a reward?

In Odoo 19 Referrals, points are not given for sharing a link but for the progress of the referred applicant in Recruitment. Rewards are a separate catalogue that employees spend those points on.

  • Open the Recruitment app and go to the stage configuration; with Referrals installed, each stage has a points value. Set small values for early stages and the highest value for the hired stage.
  • Make sure referred applicants arrive through the employee's referral link, so Odoo knows which employee referred them.
  • In the Referrals app, go to the configuration menu for rewards and create each reward with a name, description, image and cost in points.
  • Employees open the rewards page in Referrals and buy a reward once they have enough points; HR is then responsible for delivering it.
  • Use the Referrals reporting to review points earned per employee and per job position.

Communicate the points table to your staff when you launch the programme. Clear rules and fast delivery of rewards are what keep employees sharing positions month after month.
