Odoo 19 Appraisals cycle: plan, self-assessment, manager review, goals and skills

We are a trading company in Alexandria with around 120 employees. Until now our HR team has been opening every appraisal by hand, and many reviews are simply forgotten when a manager is busy or on leave.

We want Odoo 19 to create the first appraisal six months after an employee joins and then a new one every six months after that. Is this possible without customization, and how do we control the dates for existing staff?

Yes, this is standard behaviour in the Odoo 19 Appraisals app, which is an Enterprise app. You configure an appraisal plan once and Odoo then schedules the reviews for you based on each employee's dates.

  • Go to Appraisals > Configuration > Settings and enable the appraisal plan option that creates appraisals automatically.
  • Set the first appraisal to be created six months after the employee's arrival date, and the following appraisals to repeat every six months.
  • Review the default employee and manager feedback templates in the same settings screen so the generated appraisals use your questions.
  • For existing staff, open each employee form and check the next appraisal date; adjust it where you want a specific starting point.
  • Use the Appraisals list or the analysis report filtered on upcoming dates to confirm that the schedule looks right before the first batch is created.

Once the plan is active, Odoo notifies the employee and the manager when an appraisal is created, and HR can follow progress from the Appraisals dashboard. Test the plan on one department first to refine the templates.
