Odoo 19 Project management: tasks, stages, dependencies, Gantt, milestones and updates

We are a fit-out contractor in Doha managing office renovation projects in Odoo 19 Enterprise. Many tasks cannot start until another one is finished, for example painting must wait for electrical work.

At the moment we track this in a separate planning file. Can Odoo link tasks so we know which ones are blocked, and can we see and adjust the schedule visually?

Yes. Odoo 19 Project supports task dependencies, and with Enterprise you can see and reschedule them in the Gantt view.

  • Go to Project > Configuration > Settings and enable task dependencies.
  • Open a task, for example Painting, and in the blocked by tab add the tasks it depends on, such as Electrical work.
  • Give each task planned dates so it can be placed on the timeline.
  • Open the project and switch to the Gantt view; dependent tasks are connected by arrows, and you can drag tasks to change their dates.
  • Use the filters in the task list to see tasks that are blocked or waiting, so the team knows what can start now.

When a blocking task is moved later, review the dependent tasks to make sure the plan stays realistic. Combining dependencies with milestones gives management a clear view of the key dates on each project.
