Odoo 20 was released on 24 September 2026. For a company like yours the most important changes are practical rather than cosmetic.
Main differences for users
- Offline mode now allows creating and editing records, not only viewing them, and syncs when the connection returns.
- AI agents can create and update records, run from automation rules or on a schedule and accept voice requests, using AI credits bought through In-App Purchase.
- Accounting shows parent accounts instead of account groups, and payment statuses are renamed: In Process becomes Paid and Paid becomes Reconciled.
- Inventory adds intercompany resupply routes, suggested min and max levels for reordering rules and auto-generated CMR notes.
- Prices can be displayed tax-included or tax-excluded on orders and invoices.
What can break
- Record rules are removed: their domains now live on the access rights, so custom security files must be converted.
- Reports, exports or integrations that filter on account groups or old payment status values need review.
- Every custom module and connector must be tested on a copy of your database upgraded to version 20.
Our recommendation
Request a test upgrade first, fix the custom modules, test your main flows end to end and train key users on the changed screens. Odoo 19 remains supported, so many live companies wait for the first maintenance updates before switching. If you start a new implementation, start on Odoo 20 directly.
