Odoo versions 16 to 20: what changed in each release
1CBMS

Odoo releases a new major version every year, and each one changes how companies work in accounting, sales, inventory and manufacturing. Odoo officially supports the last three major versions, so with the launch of Odoo 20 in September 2026 the supported versions are 18, 19 and 20.

Key milestones by version

  • Odoo 16 (October 2022): faster interface, improved Spreadsheet and Knowledge apps.
  • Odoo 17 (November 2023): redesigned interface, new bank reconciliation, Shop Floor app for production and WhatsApp messaging.
  • Odoo 18 (October 2024): redesigned Point of Sale, simplified URLs, period locking in accounting and an improved Website Builder.
  • Odoo 19 (September 2025): AI agents, smart search, ESG reporting and new industry packages.
  • Odoo 20 (September 2026): AI agents that create records and run in automated actions, MCP connectivity and a major manufacturing upgrade.

Which version should you choose?

For a new implementation we recommend starting on the latest stable version you can support and test well. Companies on Odoo 17 or older should plan an upgrade, because those versions are leaving official support. 1CBMS helps you assess, plan and execute the move.
